Prayer for Priests

Keep them; I pray Thee, dearest Lord.
Keep them, for they are Thine
The priests whose lives burn out before
Thy consecrated shrine.
Keep them, for they are in the world,
Though from the world apart.
When earthly pleasures tempt, allure —
Shelter them in Thy heart.
Keep them and comfort them in hours
Of loneliness and pain,
When all their life of sacrifice
For souls seems but in vain.
Keep them and  remember, Lord,
they have no one but Thee.
Yet, they have only human hearts,
With human frailty.
Keep them as spotless as the Host,
That daily they caress;
Their every thought and word and deed,
Deign, dearest Lord, to bless

– by the late John J Cardinal Carberry

A Savior is Born

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes , lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Luke 2: 12-14

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for , behold , I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:10-11

For Vocations

Jesus, the harvest is still great. It is a worldwide harvest of many colours, of many songs and many dreams.

Call labourers to gather the harvest for you. Grant the blessing of courage to follow you, and the grace to share your love with all the world.

Amen.

Mary, Mother of God, and my mother . . . .  stand by me in my time of need.

Through your intercession, fortify me in times of pain and trouble. Illuminate the darkness of my fear. Shower me with the graces necessary to endure and overcome.

Through the love your Son has shown for each and every one of His children, I ask you, my mother to assist me, console me and renew my faith in his healing.

Amen
